The Rock And Emily Blunt To Play Married Superheroes In Emily V. Gordon-Scripted BALL & CHAIN
Oh my god, I’m sure I don’t have to remind you of this, but the onscreen chemistry between Dwayne Johnson and Emily Blunt in JUNGLE CRUISE was just so extreme. None of us have seen the film, but you can tell from the trailer. Well maybe you can’t tell from the trailer, but the following news story should be all the evidence you need.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Johnson and Blunt will star in a superhero film called BALL & CHAIN, adapted from Scott Lobdell’s comic by the great Emily V. Gordon. Like every movie we hear about from now on, this is likely to be a Netflix thing. I suppose every once in a while, something will be an Amazon thing. If it looks cute, it’ll be a Disney+ thing.
But this one is looking like a Netflix thing. The story has to do with a bickering married couple that gets superpowers which only work if they are together. So you can basically see where that’s going. That doesn’t mean it’s a bad setup. A superhero MR. AND MRS. SMITH sounds fun. I hope the powers are better than, you know, he's strong and she can turn invisible.
It’s going to be a while before we see this Blunt/Rock chemistry in play, however. JUNGLE CRUISE got way delayed by the rona and of course this BALL & CHAIN film probably won’t get going for a while either. Nevertheless, I am very curious to see what it’s like for the Rock to have chemistry with a female co-star.
