Edgar Wright’s Bringing Four New Shows To Netflix

Including one directed by ATTACK THE BLOCK's Joe Cornish.

Here's some exciting news: Edgar Wright, his longtime producer, Nira Park, and ATTACK THE BLOCK director Joe Cornish have joined forces for a brand-new production company by the name of Complete Fiction, and they've just signed a deal with Netflix to bring a total of four news series to the streaming platform. The even better news? Cornish himself will executive produce and direct one of the shows.

Here's further info on Complete Fiction's lineup, via Variety:

The first is LOCKWOOD & CO, a supernatural action-adventure detective series, based on the novels by Jonathan Stroud. The series will be helmed and executive produced by Cornish.

Also with Netflix, the company has optioned the sci-fi horror trilogy THE MURDERS OF MOLLY SOUTHBOURNE from novelist Tade Thompson, and the historical fantasy series inspired by Islamic folklore, THE CITY OF BRASS (THE DAEVABAD TRILOGY), from author S.A. Chakraborty."

You've probably done the math here and realized that this only adds up to three new shows, not the four we mentioned at the top of this post. Well, Variety goes on to say that Complete Fiction's fourth project is "still under wraps", which has us wondering if it might not be something written and helmed by Wright himself. That's just idle speculation, of course, but wouldn't that be great? Wright's been kicking ass on the big screen for years, but it would be good fun to see him returning to the longform storytelling format (after 1999's SPACED).

Nothing further to report at this time, but rest assured we'll keep you informed as further updates on all of these projects roll in.
