AUGUST: OSAGE COUNTY Trailer: Time To Meet This Year’s Oscar Wannabes

Meryl Streep finally gets to play the mom role in POSTCARDS FROM THE EDGE.

Here is a trailer for August: Osage County, a film about family drama which is based on an award winning play and stars Julia Roberts and Meryl Streep. If a sentence has ever made me want to see a movie less, I hope I never hear it.

Still, Meryl Streep looks kind of amazing in this, and the cast is top notch. Aside from the already mentioned Roberts & Streep, we have: Ewan McGregor, Abigail Breslin, Chris Cooper, Sherlock Holmes, Dermot Mulroney and/or Dylan McDermott, Juliette Lewis, Ernest Borgnine, Margaret Dumont, and a likely cameo by Mike Tyson.

The movie looks totally sad, but with enough dry wit to be relatable enough that people won't automatically call shenanigans on its sentimentalism. Not me, but other people. I like to think of it as a sequel to Steel Magnolias except in a parallel universe where Julia Roberts doesn't die and Meryl Streep was actually in the film like she so clearly should have been.

This won't come out until November, so you still have some time left to make peace with your God.
