A Trailer To Remind You Renny Harlin Has A HERCULES Movie, Too

"I'm seeing double here. 300 Hercules!"

The poor quality of this Hercules: The Legend Begins trailer puts me in so many awkward positions. For one, it means I'm down on a film that looks to have a lot of bearded Scott Adkins action. It also means that between two Hercules films, I'm slightly more excited for the Brett Ratner one. This is supposed to be the Olympus Has Fallen, ugly red-headed brother to that likely glossier film. But, I don't know. It looks more like a Cinemax series directed by Zack Snyder's left hand.

The plot appears to be a kind of redo of Gladiator where Hercules has his love ripped from him so he can go fight in one of civilization's earliest reality shows. Then he realizes Zeus is his dad and suddenly gets a lighting whip-sword.

Some of the fighting (some) looks like it could be okay. But this guy playing Hercules, Kellan Lutz, has a real unintelligent face thing happening that I just can't get behind. Also, in some filing system somewhere in the world, he surely must be listed as K.Lutz. Bad omens.

That all said, I'm still seeing the shit out of it because my need for it to be next year's Olympus Has Fallen trumps all common sense. It's a sickness. The only cure is a headstab.
