Bad News For Keanu Reeves Sci-Fi Romance, PASSENGERS

The film loses its star AND distributor AND will to live.

Passengers sounds like a really cool film. A bunch of space colonists are on their way to a space colony. One of them accidentally awakens from sci-fi sleep. Bored out of his mind, he wakes up a lady. I assume they either fall in love or murder each other or both. However it turns out, it's an interesting premise that could be great.

So it's sad to report that the film has hit a rough patch. The film was supposed to star Keanu Reeves and Rachel McAdams. Now THR tells us that McAdams is no longer going to be in the film for some unknown reason. Pouring salt on that wound, the Weinstein Company has cut the film adrift as well, meaning Passengers will have to find a new distributor.

Luckily, these are probably temporary problems. It shouldn't be too hard for them to find another actress, and what distribution company (besides the Weinstein Company, I guess) wouldn't want a sci-fi romance starring Keanu Reeves? Money in the bank!

Unfortunately, this means the film will not make its April 3, 2015 release date. If you already bought your tickets, I'm sure you can either get them refunded or at least transfer them over to another early April 2015 film. I recommend Insidious Chapter 3. Because I've heard of it.
