Tits No Good: SIN CITY Posters Banned By MPAA For Nudity

This smells like a set-up.

The MPAA refused to certify the above Sin City: A Dame To Kill For poster. Not because they hate the very idea that this fucking movie exists a decade after its proper period, but because of the boobs. According to Page Six:

We’re told the poster was disapproved by the MPAA “for nudity — curve of under breast and dark nipple/areola circle visible through sheer gown.”

We could go two ways with this 1) how crazy is it that we live in a world where a shadow titty is more threatening than a gun or 2) come on, they never thought they'd get this certified.

I'm going with #2. We've talked about #1 a lot over the decades. This feels like a publicity stunt, one designed to get people like me to write about this movie. I had been on a pretty strict "No Sin City: A Dame To Kil For" coverage regimen until now (I broke it because the second I thought of this headline I knew I had to run it. I'm weak); I'm sure that the ability to get digital coverage motivated the creation of this poster. I mean, I don't work professionally in marketing but I look at that poster and I know IMMEDIATELY there is no way the MPAA lets it through. But now the poster gets run on websites as 'news' (which avoids MPAA restrictions on the kinds of images that can be used in marketing while maintaining MPAA-compliance) and the Weinstein Company doesn't have to deal with the hassle of complaints at the theater lobby level.

A tangent: How much do you love Eva Green? She's an example of an actress who has aged into an absolutely perfect state - she's beautiful, she's sexy and she's got a life behind her eyes. She's tough in an organic way. She was always great - her debut, The Dreamers, shows her as a strong actress and an incredible screen presence from day one - but thirtysomething Eva Green is a leading woman in a way that twentysomething Eva Green simply wasn't.
