Christian Bale, Cate Blanchett, And More Join JUNGLE BOOK: ORIGINS

So yesterday I kind of made fun of Jungle Book: Origins for casting Benedict Cumberbatch as Shere Khan. Today the film is trying to fight back with better casting news. Good luck, movie!

Here’s how it looks. Christian Bale will play Begheera the panther. Cate Blanchett will play Kaa the python. Naomie Harris will play Nisha the wolf. Eddie Marsan’s going to be Vihaan the wolf. Tom Hollander will be Tabaqui the jackal. I don’t know if you noticed, but this movie’s going to have a lot of animals in it.

But there’s more! Mowgli will be played by Rohan Chand, the little kid from Bad Words. And Baloo will be played by none other than Andy Serkis himself. The film will be a mixture of motion capture, computer animation, and live action elements. I’m just assuming here, but all these actors are probably just providing voice work. Meanwhile Serkis will mo-cap absolutely everything else. Even trees.
