Laugh At Least Four Times At This Trailer For Chris Rock’s TOP FIVE
Written by, directed by, and starring Chris Rock, Top Five finds the comedian playing kind of a version of himself as he struggles to make the transition from funny guy to serious actor. As you can see from the trailer, this seems to be inspired by a string of hit movies in which this guy plays some kind of bear cop named Hammy. That’s supposed to be satire, but I would be lying if I tried to act like I didn’t want to see those Hammy movies.
Anyway, people seemed to really like Top Five when it hit the Toronto International Film Festival. Paramount was especially fond of it, as they purchased the film after its premiere.
It’s not hard to see why. This trailer is funny, appears to tell a decent enough love story, and has an all-out amazing cast. This seems to be one of those movies where every single person, even some extra picking his nose in the background, is totally great and recognizable. There are so many people in this movie that Adam Sandler and Jerry Seinfeld didn’t even make it into this preview. Also, the thing with the wooden hangers had me laughing out loud.
Top Five starts out a limited theatrical release on December 5 before going nationwide on December 12.
