You Vengeful Bitches: Check Out The Trailer For THE BEGUILED

Sofia Coppola’s update of the 1971 Clint Eastwood film just shot to the top of our most-anticipated list.

Earlier today Scott Wampler shared some photos from Sofia Coppola’s upcoming adaptation of 1966 Thomas Cullinan’s novel The Beguiled. And we saw that it was good.

Now we have a trailer. Take a look.

I’ve been excited about this project for a while now, and the trailer only fuels my enthusiasm. The actors, the textures, the Southern Gothic mood - this movie looks like it’s doing everything correctly.

Last July I said that this is a story (filmed quite effectively in 1971 by Don Siegel and Clint Eastwood) that is uniquely suited to being reinterpreted through a modern lens, and it seems that, based on the detail in today's EW piece about shifting the story to the female characters’ point of view, Ms. Coppola is in agreement.

The Beguiled opens on June 23rd. We are counting the days.
