Colin Farrell To Play Oliver North In Amazon Show From THE LOBSTER’s Yorgos Lanthimos

Is it enough to just look like a dude?

After the surreal violence and sexuality explored in Dogtooth and The Lobster, it only makes sense that Yorgos Lanthimos’ next project would take on American politics, so here he comes with an Amazon show about the whole Oliver North thing.

Currently, the show doesn’t have a name, but it does have a star: Colin Farrell, who I bet you didn’t realize looks like Oliver North until just now. It’s a pretty great resemblance, but will Farrell try to emulate the guy to the letter or add some special Farrell magic. Honestly, he could do whatever he wants since Oliver North strikes me as kind of bland to begin with.

For those too young to remember seeing this guy getting grilled on TV every day for a while, Oliver North got in big trouble for involvement with selling weapons to Iran to help fund Nicaraguan Contras, which was not cool at the time, but heck, might be now. He has some kind of Fox News show now. Ask your dad if it’s any good.

This is an interesting project for Lanthimos, who doesn’t seem too interested in the real world. He definitely got a good performance out of Farrell in The Lobster, so this should be something to anticipate for that reason alone. Hopefully no dogs die.
