THE BIG SICK’s Emily Gordon Will Next Adapt THE NEST For Amazon

In which the first-time Oscar nominee lines up her next project.

Yesterday, Emily V. Gordon earned her very first Oscar nomination for The Big Sick, which earned a nod in this year's Best Original Screenplay category (she shares the nomination with her also-awesome husband, Kumail Nanjiani). Today, we've learned she's already lined up a new project, and it's an exciting one.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Gordon will next tackle an adaptation of Cynthia D'Aprix Sweeney's best-selling novel, The Nest. What's The Nest about? Glad you asked. Says THR:

"The New York Times bestseller follows the dysfunctional Plumb family. After years of simmering tensions that finally reach a breaking point, Melody, Beatrice, and Jack Plumb gather to confront their charismatic and reckless older brother, Leo, whose reckless actions have endangered the family trust fund."

If you've seen The Big Sick, you don't need to be told that this material is right up Gordon's alley, and we're excited to see what she does with it. We know Gordon's scripting for an Amazon Studios release (Amazon also released The Big Sick, so they're keeping that successful partnership going), but that's about all we know for the time being. Stay tuned for more on this one as it becomes available, and for the love of God see The Big Sick as soon as you can.
