Here’s Your First Look At Taika Waititi’s WELLINGTON PARANORMAL

The WHAT WE DO IN THE SHADOWS spin-off launches in New Zealand very soon.

The What We Do In The Shadows business is a thriving one. The original movie, directed by Taika Waititi and Jemaine Clement, is a firm favourite in these parts, and if you haven't seen it, you're missing out on one of the very best horror comedies in the history of the subgenre. So successful is it that it's seeing a sequel film, We're Wolves; an exceedingly well-cast American television remake/spinoff, due spring 2019; and a Kiwi television spinoff, Wellington Paranormal, about the two police officers who make a small, memorable cameo in the film.

As of today, Wellington Paranormal has a trailer, and the adventures of Officers Minogue and O'Leary look every bit as weird and unassumingly funny as you'd hope.

Character posters of the show's monsters have also been going up around New Zealand, and a few are compiled here on the instagram of What We Do in the Shadows and Ash Vs Evil Dead makeup designer Don Brooker:

Wellington Paranormal starts July 11 on TV2 in New Zealand. Whether it makes it overseas is another question, but holy moly, if you're listening, TVNZ: you've got a potential breakout hit there. Don't underestimate the size of What We Do In The Shadows' international fanbase. As a New Zealander, I'm smugly proud that for once, a Kiwi show is gonna be must-see for the rest of the world; as a New Zealander living abroad, I'd love to be able to watch it legally.
