If Eyeball Injuries Freak You Out, This BRIGHTBURN Clip Definitely Isn’t For You

Nope. Nope. Nope.

Everyone's got a flavor of gore they can't handle. Maybe yours is gunshots. Maybe it's seeing a throat get slashed. Maybe you saw Pet Sematary when you were nine years old and have sworn never to walk up a staircase bare-footed ever again. We've all got our limits, and mine happens to be eyeball injuries.

Which brings us to this just-released red-band clip for David Yarovesky's Brightburn, the upcoming horror-thriller (produced by James Gunn, don'tcha know) which dares to ask the question, "What would happen if baby Superman had crash-landed on Earth...and turned out to be a homicidal maniac?"

This clip features one of the gnarliest eyeball injuries I've seen in ages, and I have zero trouble admitting that I had to look away from my screen once the...the...once it started happening. See if you don't fare better.

We are very, very excited for Brightburn here at Birth.Movies.Death., and I will absolutely be there when it opens later this month. Oh, I might end up taking a bathroom break when this scene arrives in the movie, but if so that will be a coincidental bathroom break, not a strategic one. There's no way for you to prove otherwise.

Here's the Brightburn synopsis, in case you're just now learning of the film:

"What if a child from another world crash-landed on Earth, but instead of becoming a hero to mankind, he proved to be something far more sinister? With Brightburn, the visionary filmmaker of Guardians of the Galaxy and Slither presents a startling, subversive take on a radical new genre: superhero horror."

"Superhero horror", eh? We could get into that.

Brightburn hits theaters on May 24th. Are y'all as excited for this one as we are? And also, while we're here: what's your least-favorite kind of injury to see onscreen? Sound off in the comments below.
