New WATCHMEN Trailer Prepares For War
We've been sold on Damon Lindelof's Watchmen series almost from the word go, and each new teaser and trailer has only solidified that excitement. And the elusive quality of those teasers has made Lindelof's "remix" of Alan Moore and Dave Gibbons' graphic novel all the more intriguing. The latest full trailer finally peels back the curtain to reveal some actual plot, and honestly, I don't know how much more stoked we can be for this thing:
As we'd already sussed out from the various sneak peeks, Regina King is playing a law enforcement official of some sort who answers to Don Johnson – who delivers a pitch-perfect "delightful" when the former reveals she's got a body in the trunk of her car. That militia with the Rorschach masks appears to be inciting a war, as well, while an older Ozymandias (Jeremy Irons) – ever the nihilistic mischief-maker – seems quite pleased. I'm particularly fascinated by this interrogation method involving a metallic shape-shifting mask that also emulates Rorschach, as sported by Tim Blake Nelson in the above trailer.
We're looking forward to seeing how this apparently rather socially relevant plot unfolds when Watchmen premieres on HBO October 20. That's gonna be quite the busy week, what with the return of Castle Rock, which also dropped a new teaser today.
