SUICIDE SQUAD 2 May Introduce Dwayne Johnson’s Black Adam
There's only one rule in Hollywood: if your movie sucks, put The Rock in the sequel. Suicide Squad 2, if and when it happens, will be helmed by Gavin O'Connor (a pretty good choice if you ask us), but now that fan favourite Slipknot is dead, it appears the major draw will come in the form of The 'Dwayne Rock' Johnson's Shazam! villain/anti-hero, Kahndaq's own Teth-Adam. Here's how he'll figure into the plot according to The Wrap:
The current plan for the sequel is for the members of Suicide Squad to be tasked with tracking down a weapon of mass destruction. That weapon? Black Adam himself.
It's far too early to say anything about this movie, but if we're being honest, that unofficial one line synopsis is way more coherent than the actual plot of the first film. The sequel supposedly goes into production next October (I'd check to see where it might fit into DC's release calendar but it keeps changing every 0.8 seconds), so keep an eye out for a potential release date around this time next year. A lot could change between now and then (and who knows when Black Adam will finally get his own movie), but this appears to be the plan for now.
And look, I'm fully aware it's DC season, so don't go out of your way to mistake my dislike of the first film for "bias" against the next one. I want these movies to be good, but can you really blame me for being cynical given how 75% of them have turned out? Anyway, we should have a review for Justice League once the embargo drops in December.
