The Sequel To A QUIET PLACE Will Now Be Written By John Krasinski

Last we checked (back in April), Scott Beck and Bryan Woods - the original writers on John Krasinski's box-office shattering A Quiet Place - were back onboard to write the sequel for the film. The whole thing was such a sure thing, in fact, that Paramount had already gone ahead and set a release date for it. 

Now it sounds like the plan has changed. In a recent Q&A in Los Angeles, Krasinski revealed that he, not Beck and Woods, would be writing the Quiet Place sequel. Here's what he said, according to The Hollywood Reporter:

"I had this small idea for a sequel, but I didn't think it would go anywhere. So, I said to the studio, 'Just go do the movie with somebody else.' They heard some pitches, and I told Drew [Form, producer] about this little idea, and he told me to think about it a little longer. And then I thought, 'This might really work.' So, I'm currently writing the sequel."

Curiously, there's still no word on who might helm the project: Krasinski's currently starring in Amazon's Jack Ryan series, and apparently still has Life On Mars set up as his next directorial effort. With A Quiet Place 2's release date having already been established (May 15th, 2020), it seems unlikely that he'd have time to do everything...right? Guess we'll find out!
