Here’s Every Story You Shouldn’t Have Missed From SDCC 2019

Weren't paying attention? We got you covered.

This year, Team BMD made the bold decision to skip attending this year's SDCC. Rather than schlepping ourselves all the way to San Diego and shoulder-checking our way through the lines, we thought we'd see if it was possible to cover the event remotely, preferably from a covered patio of a place which serves margaritas. It was a fun experiment, one we're happy with the results of. We were also happy with the margaritas.

But what about those of you who weren't hanging on SDCC's every word this weekend? What did you miss? Well, I've put together a handy list of the 10 biggest stories we covered out of this year's SDCC. Each one of these reveals left us feeling very hyped (we're particularly excited about some of the goings-on in the MCU), and we wanna make sure none of them escaped your attention.

So, here they are, in no particular order...

The Doctor Strange sequel was given an official title, and it's one of the best in the MCU.

HBO dropped a full-length trailer for its forthcoming Watchmen series. It looks incredible.

Marvel announced the full lineup for The Eternals and finally dropped a release date on us.

They also announced a new Blade movie (!!!), to be headlined by Mahershala Ali (!!!!!).

Not to be outdown by Doctor Strange 2, Taika Waititi's Thor: Ragnarok also scored a helluva title, along with the reveal that Natalie Portman will co-star in the film as a female Thor.

The first trailer for CBS All Access' Picard arrived and blew everyone away (even non-Trek fans!).

Netflix dropped the trailer for its long-gestating series based on The Witcher. It's pretty good!

The Russo Bros. revealed what Captain America did after returning the Infinity Stones at the end of Avengers: Endgame, and the math checks out.

Universal revealed that it was bringing The Walking Dead to theaters, with Andrew Lincoln in tow.

And, finally, the biggest surprise of SDCC? The unexpected arrival of the Top Gun: Maverick trailer.

There were, of course, other things that happened during SDCC (The IT: Chapter Two trailer, for instance, which you can see here) but the links above cover all the biggest news we saw out of this year's Gathering of The Geeks. Did we miss not being there? Eh, yes and no. Were we a little taken aback at the relatively slow news pace of this year's SDCC? Absolutely. Are we glad it's all behind us for another calendar year? You bet your ass!

What was your pick for the biggest story out of SDCC 2019? Anything in particular you're super hyped about? Think the number of studios that chose to sit out this year's SDCC hurt the overall spectacle of the event? Sound off in the comments below, and stay tuned for updates on all the stories about as further information rolls in.
